INFORMATION
FOR ANSPs (1) |
|
|
|
Dear interested Air
Navigation Servcie Provider, |
|
We
would like to inform
you about the status
of the One ATM System
(OATMS) initiative based
on several discussions
with a number of ANSPs
and in which, at present,
the Czech, Slovenian
and Austrian Air Navigation
Service Providers actively
participate.
|
|
The
One ATM System joint
undertaking is a technical
and commercial initiative
to renew and replace
the ANSPs’ current
ATM systems in phases
between 2007 and 2012.
In its efforts, it aims
to maximise the benefits
for the stakeholders,
especially for the airspace
users, by minimising
life-cycle costs for
the system and the services
by following the Single
European Sky principles
and by striving to achieve
the targets of harmonisation
and integration. |
|
The
current One ATM System
members need to acquire,
install and operate
a new ATM system by
2012 at the latest.
The One ATM System will
provide regional IT
services to the members
based on a cluster architecture.
The members will provide
the operational ATS
based on the One ATM
System services. This
approach maximises the
safety benefits and
minimises the life-cycle
costs due to the joint
specification, procurement,
implementation, integration,
evolution, operation
and maintenance of the
services in a harmonised
environment. The joining
of forces will also
strengthen their position
towards industrial suppliers
and influence the development
of standardised tools
taking their operational
needs into account. |
|
|
The
advantage of our approach
was confirmed by the
One ATM System business
case produced by Booze
Allen Hamilton at the
end of 2004 and is to
be further elaborated
in the course of the
project's present definition
phase. |
